Siem Reap is a place that evokes mixed feelings of melancholy and happiness. Happy becoz I’d a tremendous time there two years ago during our Angkor Way ’08 trip with a group of friends. The temples & ruins of Angkor were magnificent and still holds an awe of a civilization long gone. My blog about the trip has ahem sadly been interrupted but fret no, my faithful readers, for continue and finish the Angkor blog I shall. 🙂
Melancholy when I think of the life of the people of Siem Reap. The children who were born into such difficult and unforgiving life, yet children whom appeared happier and more carefree than those I see around KL. Through their eyes, you’ll understand why happiness is simply a state of the mind, and while money & material belongings can bring you a perceived sense of happiness, true happiness comes from within.
Through a running mate of mine (PuehTian), I got to know of a local charity event hosted by Colors of Cambodia and Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society to draw awareness to plight of the children of Cambodia and to bring joy & hope to their lives through the medium of Art.
They did their first Charity Art & Auction in 2008 and this year, they are doing their 2nd at Penang Village in GE Mall (Jalan Ampang). The event will run from 15 May – 13 June 2010, and you can help by buying their meal vouchers at RM60 (per pax) or RM500 (per table of 10). There’ll also be an art exhibition of work done by these children.
Pls click on this link to find out more about this Charity Art event and contact numbers to call if you are interested to contribute or sponsor. 🙂
Personally, I’ll be sponsoring a table of 10 (date to be determined but likely first week of June) and will be inviting some relatives and associates for this event. I believe my Angkor Trip friends are also keen to attend this event as a sort-of Angkor Reunion Meet. 🙂
I would also like to take this opportunity to offer a special deal to my Boardgamecafe.net members. If you would like to contribute to this Charity event, buy a dinner voucher at RM50 and you’ll get a RM50 discount from Boardgamecafe.net on your next game purchase (item above RM150). Now you can do your bit for charity and get games at great discount! How does that sound? 🙂
If you are interested, pls email or call me or waiyan for details or response to this Boardgamecafe.net Facebook invite (click here).

To all those who will be contributing or sponsoring to this event, on behalf of all the children of Cambodia, I thank you and may you find success and happiness in all your future endeavors.
